History

The street art phenomenon began in 2012 when a Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic was commissioned to create a series of murals in the old town of George Town. Since then, local and international artists have been adding to the collection, turning the streets of Penang into an open-air gallery. In this blog post, we’ll take you on a tour of Penang’s most iconic street art pieces and show you where to find them. So grab your camera and let’s explore the fascinating world of Penang’s street art together!

How to See Penang Street Art

The best way to see the street art is to wander around the old town by foot. With that said, you can still see most, if not all, in a day but be prepared for the weather as you will be doing a lot of walking in the open. The map below should help you find the murals in this post.
